Limousin bulls sold to a top of $7,000 three times at the Southern Cross Limousin sale at Moss Vale on Friday 14th August.
Jim Hindmarsh and Company livestock agent and auctioneer for the sale Ben Hindmarsh, Moss Vale, said the sale offered 28 bulls and five females, selling to a 97 percent clearance, with one lot passed in.
Mr Hindmarsh said the sale went well, averaging $4,500 and selling to a top of $7,000 three times.
“The sale went very well and there was good interest out of Orange, Braidwood, the South Coast and strong local competition,” Mr Hindmarsh said.
“They are the best bulls we’ve had in many years, which demonstrated a premium and all five females sold”.
He said both vendors and buyers were happy as the sale continues to build momentum.
“It was good to see regular buyers supporting the sale.”
The equal top priced bull for $7,000 was sold by Max Rossi, Deneen Limousins, Albion Park. Deneen Jupiter (PF) (2A) was bought by J&R Limousin, Austral. Jupiter, an August 2013 drop bull weighed in at 870 kilograms and had a scrotal measurement of 43 centimetres.
The second equal top price bull sold by Daren Turner, Southwest Limousins, Berry, was Southwest Nobel Prize K9 (PF), who was bought by Glenn Trout, manager for Birubi Limousins, Borambola. The May 2014 drop bull, Nobel Prize weighed in at 620kg and had a scrotal measurement of 35cm.
The third equal top price bull sold by Glyn, Anne and Ashur Williams, Newton-Wood Limousins, Murrumbateman, was Newton-Wood Jonno (PF), which was bought by the Morrison Family Partnership, “Betting Ground”, Braidwood. The September 2013 drop bull weighed 790kg and had a scrotal measurement of 36cm.
The equal second highest priced bull for $5,750, sold by Daren Turner was Southwest Xtractor J3, which was bought by G and J Menzies, Glenquarry. Xtractor a November 2013 drop bull, weighed 805kg and had a scrotal measurement of 39cm.
Ray and Christine Vlietstra, Raystine Limousins, Albion Park Rail, sold Raystine Black Jester for $5,750, bought by Dallas Griggs, Mossman Park, Braidwood. Black Jester, a September 2013 drop bull weighed 790kg and had a scrotal measurement of 38cm.
The sale was conducted by Jim Hindmarsh and Company, Moss Vale.
