A feature of the led steer competition at the EKKA is the Jackpot competition for the combination of points scored in the on hoof judging and points for the carcase competition. This year there was a pool of $12,900 in the Jackpot from breeders who nominate to be eligible and also a contribution from the RNA.

Winners of the Jackpot this year were the Riley and Sowden families with their Limousin steer that won Grand Champion Led Steer and also Champion Heavy Weight Carcase. With 46.5 points on the hoof and 92 points on the hook the combined total of 138.5 points won them $7,740. All up this steer returned approximately $32,000.
