Bulls sold to a top of $8,000 twice at the Northern Limousin Breeders’ Sale at Scone last Friday, making it the second top price sale in a row for River View Limousin stud at Dorrigo.
On offer were 32 bulls, selling 21 lots to an average of $4,904, with heifers topping $5,400, selling four of seven lots offered, to an average of $3,133.
The top priced bull was shared by vendors Jerome and Andrea Simpson, River View Limousins, Dorrigo, and the dedicated team at Quirindi High School, Quirindi.
The first bull to go under the hammer at the top price was River View Keg Yankee, sold by River View Limousins and purchased by John Harris, Daxton Limousin stud, Gloucester.
Sired by Wulfs Yankee K689Y, he weighed in at 775 kilograms with a 36cm scrotal circumference, birth weight of +0.2, docility of +52 and 200 day weight of +20.
Andrea Simpson, River View Limousins, said the bull was easy doing, with plenty of muscle and meat.

“I can’t wait to see the results of t his bull in 2017 and see his calves on the ground to see what progeny he produces,” she said.
The Simpson’s offered one lot at the breeders’ sale and averaged $8,000.
The Hird Grand Jock K50, Quirindi High School, Quirindi, shared in the top price of $8,000, and was purchased by Michael Bradfield, MJ & NG Bradfield, Caroona.
Sired by Harlees Mr Jock, he weighed in at 810 kilograms, with a birth weight of +1.2, 400 day weight of +34 and a 39cm scrotal circumference.
Quirindi High School farm manager, Peter Hird said his phenotype matches his genotype, exhibiting a large capacity with width and depth, combined with softness.
“The preparation for this bull was taken out by the students and it’s great to see this result,” Mr Hird said.
Quirindi High School offered four exhibits, selling two lots, topping $8,000 to an average of $2,375.
Second highest price bull of the sale was Llerrog K33, who reached $7,500, offered by Neil and Glenda Gorrell, Llerrog Limousins, Glen Alice.
Sired by Mandayen Vision Y329, Llerrog K33 weighed in at 780 kilograms with a scrotal circumference of 36cm, +1.0 birth weight and a docility of +53.
Offering ten lots this year, Llerrog Limousins sold eight to an average of $3,280, also taking out the highest price female which topped $5,400.
The top price female was a heifer, Llerrog K109, featuring a +0.4 for birth weight and docility of +36.
Of the seven females offered at the sale, four sold to an average of $3,133.
The sale was conducted by Landmark Townsend, Scone, and agent Gavin Beard said the sale presented a high quality line up.
