It was a bitter-sweet victory for Annette Tynan, Birubi Limousins, Borambola via Wagga Wagga, with the stud taking away an armful of ribbons at this year’s Sydney Royal Show.

Mrs Tynan’s husband Michael passed away earlier this year and she expressed gratitude to the stud’s decade long managers Glenn & Susie Trout for keeping the operation on-track during a difficult 18 months leading up to this year’s show.

It was therefore a highlight of the competition when the stud’s 25 month old Birubi Karlos K2, sired by Birubi Gulliver G14 out of Birubi Gumnut G71, was awarded grand champion bull and best exhibit.

A magnificent example of the breed, 930-kilogram Karlos carried impressive specifications with 13 and eight millimetres of rump and rib fat and a 146 square centimetre eye muscle.

Birubi was awarded reserve senior champion bull with a son of Donna Valley Poll Dictator, Birubi Jupita J15. The stud won junior champion female with Birubi Lady Karnival K70, and captured the judge’s eye in the breeders’ group.

Judge Stephen Crowley, Tycolah Poll Herefords, Barraba, said the line-up of Limousins from Birubi showed excellent muscling with athletic ability shown by the winning bull. “I just loved that flex from the hock”, he explained.

Junior champion bull was awarded to Myers King of Hearts, a black Limousin belonging to Scott Myers and Samantha Beresford of Moss Vale. Reserve junior champion was Flemington Legend from Mount View Orchards, Batlow.

Senior and grand champion female was awarded to Kia Ora Jenny from Mick and Mary Parson’s Kia-Ora Limousins at Roslyn via Crookwell.

Mr Crowley said the impressive female, by Premier Guardian from Birubi Della, showed good do-ability.

Reserve senior female was awarded to Summit Exotic J5 exhibited by Hayden Green.

Mr Crowley also noted that the selection of winning junior females that presented in the ring were the standout of the competition, showing good length and depth with correct shoulder structure.

Reserve junior champion female was awarded to Hayden Green’s Summit Meadowgrass K67.
