There was keen demand for the superior genetics on offer at the annual Birubi Limousin and Lim-Flex on-property sale at Wagga Wagga last week.

The top price at $11,000 was paid for Birubi Keyman K88, an apricot son of JYF Yieldmaster 80Y by the Mandayen Limousin stud, Brinkley, SA.

The 22 month-old bull has the excellent figures of +1.7 for birthweight, +9 for milk and a scrotal size of +1.6

Stud manager, Glenn Trout, said the young sire is by their Canadian import who is stamping his calves with outstanding carcase attributes.

“He has been exceptional for calving and is stamping the Limousin carcase on his progeny,” Mr Trout said.

The Mandayen stud also purchased Birubi Kasino K76 for $4,000.

Of the 27 stud bulls offered, 18 were sold for average price of $4805, up $500 on last year, while five stud cows with calves were offered and sold to top of $5000 and average price of $3900. Ten stud heifers were offered and all sold to top of $5,000 for an average price of $3611.

Stud bulls sold included Birubi Master Keeper K57, purchased by Mark and Jo Haskins, Jeir, ACT, for $7,000, and repeat buyers C and P Duren, “Bald Hill”, Trunkey Creek, paid $6,000 for Birubi Locksmith L8, and $4,500 for Birubi Master Knave K94: and the Morrison family, Braidwood paid $6,000 for Birubi Kirkley K119 and $3,000 for Birubi Koomer K142. Starrs Limousins, Thuddungra, purchased Birubi Kingdom K80 for $6,000, along with four female lots, purchased for average price of $3,625, to top of $4,500 for Birubi Hennah H100 a 22 month-old heifer AI’d to Birubi Jericho. Another returning client, Eric Faulks, Tumut, purchased Birubi Lochard L56 for $4,000, while S.J. McDonnell and Sons, Gundagai purchased Birubi Jock K99 for $5,500.

Interest in the female offering saw New Day Limousin stud, Crookwell, purchase Birubi Justice Rose J245 with heifer calf for $5,000, while the 14 month-old heifer Birubi Lunnette L81 was purchased by Mountview Orchards, Batlow for $4,750. Equal top priced female went to Cooper Rafton of Killarney, Queensland who purchased Birubi Liberty Lass L130 along with Birubi Lavender Rose L115 for $4,500. In the commercial offering of Lim-Flex, the Stewart Family Trust, Lake Bathurst, secured seven cows with calves for average price $2421, with 10 unjoined heifers for $1510 average price.

Stud manager, Glenn Trout, on behalf of stud principal Annette Tynan, said he was very pleased with the sale as the interest reflected the strength of their Limousin genetics. The sale was conducted by Landmark Studstock, with Kevin Norris and Peter Godbolt taking the bids.
