Module 3: Social Responsibility

This module on Social Responsibility provides articles and resources to help members move forward with improving the sustainability of beef production systems to assist the beef industry with meeting the changing expectations of beef consumers, customers, investors and other stakeholders.

The Australian red meat industry has set a target to be carbon neutral by 2030 (CN30). This means that by 2030, the industry aims to make no net release of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions into the atmosphere. Key drivers to help achieve this goal will be improvements in the feed

efficiency of beef cattle, achieving earlier finishing ages, and lowering methane emissions, which all have the potential to increase producer profitability, while simultaneously lowering the environmental footprint of beef production.

The topics covered in the below resources include:

  • Feed Efficiency
  • Earlier finishing age
  • The noise and facts about livestock environmental sustainability
  • Methane mitigation strategies
  • Genetic trials on methane emissions

These topics are all covered in the resources shown below. Click on each resource to learn more.
