109 competitors made to journey from across NSW and QLD to Parkes to attend the annual National Limousin Junior Show (NLJS). The show kicked off Friday morning with the Educational Program. The LYA Committee would like to thank our 2017 Educators;

Grand Champion Junior Judge and winner of the Birubi Cup was awarded to our Senior Champion Judge, Rachel Relf. As part of this award Rachel is invited to be the Associate Judge at the 2018 National Show and Sale, we wish you all the best.

As the sun set the LYA conducted their AGM with the 2017-18 Committee announced. After all the formalities, we moved into the Trivia night full of fun and a lot of laughter. Congratulations to Team McAlpin Livestock to winners of the hotly contested competition.

Saturday morning went straight into the cattle classes with Mr Scott Myers; Myers Limousins, Mossvale having to difficult task of working through the strong line up of quality cattle showcased. A big thank you to all those breeders who took the time and effort to bring along cattle to this event.

Limousin Classes

This year saw the introduction of a Sire’s/Dam’s Progeny Class. It was up to the competitors to put a team to together of best three head out of the one dam or sired by the same sire. It was fantastic to see to end result with ten teams of three out in the ring. A massive thank you to Peter Kylstra, Progress Limousins who developed and supported this concept as well as Gary and Karen Hedger, Garren Park Genetics. The team sired by Greenwood PLD Zambuka took out the class with the Wulfs Zander and Wulfs Excellsior progeny teams to follow.

The Alexander Downs Annual Dinner saw the competitors, family and friends flock to the Parkes Leagues Club for a great night. A big thankyou to Alexander Downs for coming on board on supplying the tasty Limousin Steaks for the main meal and to fabulous MC, Brother Anthony.

The Limousin Youth Association extends a big thankyou to the competitors, sponsors, the ALBS Board and office Staff, parents and to anyone involved in the weekend.
