Limousins
Rise to the Top in Perth Royal
Apart from the Supreme
Exhibit, ribbons were fairly sparse for Limousins in the live judging of steers
and heifers at Perth Royal.
While we missed out in the
Supreme Champion Carcase Limousins won three of the four weight categories and
the Reserve Overall Champion.
In the lightweight section a
pure Limousin X Simmental steer shown by Jane Bellinge and Arthur Dewar was the
champion carcase.
A pure Limousin from Michael
and Trish Cabassi was the Champion Middleweight Carcase and a pure Limousin
shown by Kelmscott High School was the Heavyweight Champion and Reserve Overall
Champion carcase.
A Limousin X Angus shown by
Kelmscott High School was the Reserve Champion Heavyweight carcase and a
pure Limousin shown by Lockridge High School was Reserve Champion Extra
heavyweight Carcase.
Toowoomba
Sale Toppers
Anthony Graham sent in some sale
results for weaner age cull Limousin and Limousin cross through Landmark at the
Toowoomba Saleyards on 4 October. All
calves had been weaned under extreme drought conditions at about 150kg at 5-6
months (no supplementation) and fed straight from the weaner pen for up to 90
days. Average gains in the vicinity of
2.5 kg per day to be finished at around nine months of age at 370 - 450 kg. The Grahams have been sending in a
truck-load every couple of weeks once they are ready and the results have always
been the same a 200c/kg premium for the cattle that are visibly Limousin
infused and ready for slaughter.
Full French steers 387kg x

One injured Full French bull
20 months 800kg x 188.2c/kg = $1505
