DONNA VALLEY TO $7,500

In another strong female sale the Donna Valley Christmas in July sale topped at $7,500 in a 94 percent clearance of 47 lots for an overall average of $4,356.

 

Sixteen Limousin heifers topped at $7,500 and returned an average of $4,234, while the same number of Limousin cows topped at $7,000 and averaged $4,125.

 

Fourteen cows and calves topped at $6,000 and made an average of $4,643, and a Limousin bull calf sold for $6,000.

 

Lynn Woodbridge, Wangara Stud, Traralgon, Vic., paid $7,500 for the top priced lot, a 2004 drop cow pregnancy tested in calf.  The female was a full sister to the 2004 Sydney Royal Show Junior Champion Limousin.  Mrs Woodbridge also paid $3,000 for a 2002 drop female.

 

James McGuire, Parkdale Willows, Longwarry, Vic., paid $7,000 twice for females.  One was a 2002 drop female PTIC to Donna Valley Vengence due to calve in September.  The other was a 1998 drop cow by Merrindah Le Noir and from Ramorniespry R020, PTIC to Donna Valley Young John.

 

Hayley Sheehan, Waterford Limousin Stud, Latrobe, Tasmania, paid $7,000 also for a 2005 drop heifer by EXLR Latigo.  Miss Sheehan also secured a 2002 drop cow for $4,500.

 

Danny Modrusan, The Eyrie Limousin Stud, Elmhurst, Vic., bought a 2004 drop female for $6,500.

 

The Sinclair family, Stanley, Vic., paid $6,000 for a 2000 drop female PTIC and with an October drop bull calf by EXLR Latigo at foot.  They also paid $5,000 for a 2003 drop female with a heifer calf at foot and bought a 2005 drop heifer for $4,000.

 

Gary Umback, Myrtle Creek Limousins, Wyndham, NSW, paid $6,000 for an embryo transfer bull calf, by Goldenview Krugerrand from Tramahler Penny.

 

PU – WHAT DOES IT MEAN

The web watchers will have noticed that animals which have not been tested for protoporphyria or are not free by pedigree now have a status of PU – that is Untested.  This status will now also appear in sale catalogues.

 

SALE TOPPERS

New members Sue and Bruce Griffiths from Kyneton emailed an outstanding sale.  They sold a 435 kg Limousin X heifer for 224.2 c/kg or $975 at a recent Kyneton sale.

 

CAMDEN TOPS

William Inglis agent Stuart Sheldrake reports that at last Friday's sale at Camden cows and calves averaged $950 with a Limousin cow and calf topping the sale at $1,340.  Later in the sale Limousin X steers offered by Marist Brothers, Campbelltown topped at $650.

 

Regular William Inglis client Sam Pace, Londonderry, recently sold five Limousin steers with an average weight of 421 kg for 255 c/kg or $1,075.  Agent Rick Harris, said another recent top sale was a 395 kg Limousin steer at 254.2 c/kg or $1001 sold by Somerset Park, Menangle.

 

MOSS VALE SALE TOPPERS

Ashley Clark, Landmark Moss Vale, reports a sale of five Limousin steers weighing 350 kg to 480 kg, all under 12 months.  The steers were sold by Fred and Michelle Geard, Premier Limousins, Joadja, for 225 c/kg or $1,013.
