It is very dry
In the last 10 days I have driven from Armidale to Wodonga
and then to Adelaide and back to Melbourne as part of the preparation for the
International Limousin Conference pretour. It is extremely dry in all areas
except for a small pocket in the Otway Ranges in southern
Victoria. Hopefully the rain forecast for south eastern Australia
will be the start of a much needed break in the season.

Welcome Back
The Wemelerck Limousin herd owned by the Sinclair family at
Stanley in Victoria was a prominent herd in the 1980s, but it became a
commercial herd in the early 90s after the passing of Keith Sinclair. The
family have decided to reactivate the Wemerlerck Stud from the base of
registered cows still in the herd under the management of farm manager Ron
Leary. On a visit to the herd last Sunday I was pleased to be able to inspect
the eight registered cows which ranged in age from 12 to 14 years of
age. All had calves at foot and were structurally sound. Thanks
to the longevity of Limousin females the Wemelerck herd can be reactivated with
a flying start and we welcome them back.
Yours in Limousin
Alex McDonald
