
Females dominated the National Sale in Wodonga last Friday topping at $12,000 for the French Pure cow, Donna Valley Penny with a French Pure heifer calf at foot by SVL Polled Enterprise – sold by Greg and Mary Withers, Donna Valley Limousin stud, Holbrook to Patrick and Kathy Ryan of the Meridin Limousin stud at Merriwa.
Sired by Goldenview Kruggerand, DV Penny was earlier selected as the Reserve Champion Senior Female by the judge Ross Canning and will be used as an embryo donor by the new owners.
The Withers family had further success in the show ring taking out the Junior Champion Female and Supreme Exhibit with Dona Valley P Krystal Dazzle, a 18 month old heifer by Donna Valley Young John Y322 which was AI’d to homozygous polled Yarra Yarra Polled Atlas. This heifer sold to Deborah Cotter, Brinsley Limousins, Freemans Reach, NSW for $8,000.
Senior Champion cow, Birubi Duvet, a black, homozygous polled cow AI’d to Mandayen Guardian A488 sold on behalf of Annette and Michael Tynan for $6000 to Chris and Marilyn Meade, Pelican Rise Limousins, Colac, Vic. The Tynans also sold Birubi Blush B081 to Tony Iaria, Bogong View Limousins, Mt Beauty, Vic for $7,000. She had a July 09 bull calf at foot by Birubi Lord Vegemite A159 and was AI’d to Hunt Mr Jock.
The junior and grand champion bull went to Summit Everist E1, exhibited by Hayden Green, Summit Limousins and Peter Kylstra and Bryan Mclean, Progress Limousins and was purchased by Austen Steer, Eltham Limousins, Trangie, NSW for $4,000.
Ron and Chris Andrews, Clearday Park Limousins, Orange, NSW had a very good sale selling two French Pure Neophin daughters including the top priced junior female, Clearday Park Debutant, for $9,500 to Chris and Marilyn Meade, Pelican Rise Limousins, Colac, Vic and full sister Clearday Park Dianna for $7,000 to Neil Kelly, Jedex Limousins, Longwarry, Vic. They also sold a Jockey daughter, Clearday Park Eophin to Chris and Marilyn Meade for $4,000 and polled French Pure Timor Poll Hilary 23 to the Ferrari family, Pynedge Limousins, Mt Gambier, SA for $4,000.
Chris and Marilyn Meade took home four females for an average of $5,500. Michael and Mary Parsons, Kia Ora Limousins, Roslyn bought full sisters, Birubi Ella Wunda E007 for $4,250 and Birubi Elle Wunda E01 for $3,500.
The Senior Champion bull, Beckenham Diplomat D22, exhibited by Bruce and Sue Griffiths, Beckenham Limousins, Kyneton, Vic, sold to Mandayen Limousins, Murray Bridge, SA for $5,000.
The top price for bulls at the sale was $5,500, twice. The first bull at this price was the red and polled, Progress Dozer, offered by Progress Limousins and sold to David and Marion Rule, “Barellan Park”, Bobinawarrah, Vic to go into a commercial vealer operation.
The second $5,500 bull was the black and polled Birubi Dapper Jock, which sold to commercial breeder, Duncan Paton of Corryong, Vic.
In the wash up 13 of 23 senior bulls sold to a top of $5,500 and an average of $3,212, eight of 14 junior bulls sold to a top of $4,000 and an average of $3,250 for a 57% clearance. Eight of eight senior females sold to a top of $12,000 and an average of $5,750 and 13 of 14 females sold at auction for an average of $4,983. The six frozen embryos offered by Flemington Limousins sold to Wayne Churchill Nunkeeri Park Limousins for $350 per embryo. The sale grossed $181,600.
