We acquired our first registered Limousin cross Red Angus cattle in 1988 from Ted Wilcox of Bolong stud, and in the same year bought a number of purebreds from Tom Edols of Tobias stud. We very soon decided to invest only in purebred and French genetics so that the Red Angus cross females joined our commercial herd of Herefords and Poll Herefords and we proceeded to augment our stud with purchases of females from some of the prominent studs of the early 1990’s, with bloodlines reflecting the best in our opinion at that time.
We used French sires without exception for some years, which resulted in a line of excellent females with depth and muscle and strong spine and milk. Our first resident French bull was by Daget and he left an impressive even stamp on his progeny.
Our most prominent step away from French sires came with Wulf’s Choice, then with Double Agent and the combination of these genetics blended well with our females. Selection of sires we have used since then will be listed in the sires section. Over time we have bought a number of females from Donna Valley stud and continue to hone our female families down to the very best, focusing on docility, milk quality, body depth with softness, strength and fertility. Now, with our breeding families established and the use of flushing programmes, we can open our herd to our first female production sale on-farm, offering not only the offspring but some of the fine older matrons.
